On the 7th November 2013, Salamander Bay Recycling hosted the ABC 1233 “Live From Your Place” outside broadcast event. We were officially presented with our new pick-up truck and new aluminium drinks can recycling cages.
Federal member for Paterson, Bob Baldwin MP presented the can cages on behalf of Keep Australia Beautiful and the Coca-Cola Foundation.
Keep Australia Beautiful and the Coca-Cola Foundation awarded Salamander Bay Recycling with a grant. It was for $5,700 so that we could improve our drinks can collection capability.
Small mobile drinks can cages are located at holiday parks around the Tomaree peninsula. The master can cage is kept onsite until it is filled with empty cans; where it is then taken away to be emptied for the whole process to start again.
State member Craig Baumann MP handed-over the keys to the new truck.
The truck was partially paid for via the proceeds of a grant we received from the NSW Government office of Communities “Community Building Partnership”.
And to cap it all off we donated $10,000 to the Port Stephens a Council “Bush Fire Appeal”.
What a great day it was!
