It’s not every day that we get to claim a slice of fame but we can this week.
Our staff member, Lara Marks-Nash, has been named Port Stephens Young Citizen of the Year for 2014.
Along with being a valued member of staff for Salamander BayRecycling; Lara is an inspirational member of Nelson Bay Rotary Club, assisting both the Port Stephens community and those communities around the world in disaster zones.
Through the Rotary International Shelter Box program, Lara personally raised over $5,700 in 2012 for the purchase of shelter boxes which provide accommodation, cooking and water purification systems to disaster zone victims.
She has also become an integral part of the Port Stephens community, volunteering at the Port Stephens community radio station PSFM and recently helped to organise a Christmas party for disadvantaged children from the Port Stephens area.
We at Salamander Bay Recycling are delighted that Lara has been recognised for her achievements with this prestigious award.
We have no doubt that her contributions to the community will continue well into the future.
Well done Lara!
