Salamander Bay Recycling (SBR) is an independent, not-for-profit recycling centre driving positive environmental outcomes, and providing community support through local employment and grants. With strong ties to many community stakeholders, SBR works tirelessly on environmental leadership and responsibility in recycling.
As the Business Development & Operations Manager your role will be to plan, lead and coordinate the Centre’s operational activities. Including employee management, project management, customer and community engagement. As well as strategic planning and execution, business and financial reporting and continuous commercial improvement.
Reporting directly to the Board you will have the opportunity to showcase your capacity to create new initiatives, operational experience while balancing day-to-day responsibilities and supporting team members to achieve their full potential.

Overall Purpose
Reporting to the Board the position will act as the senior manager responsible for all SBR outcomes supported by the Centre Administrator including:
• Overall management of SBR operations
• SBR performance and organisational effectiveness,
• Strategic planning and execution,
• Strategic engagement with stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities (in order of priority)
• On site management of SBR operations and capability development activities- including coordination of SBR collection, yard acceptance and processing operations and for supervision of Centre Administrator outcomes (including shop operations, SBR policies and procedures including WHS, and data management).
• Personnel leadership and management – including Maintenance of an organisational culture aligned to SBR values and vision and community expectations; personnel recruitment, training, and wellbeing.
• SBR governance and on-site monitoring of all operations for efficiency, adherence to policy and procedures and safety.
• Spokesperson for SBR, and the public relations lead for maximum community engagement – acting as a role model for the behaviour of all staff
Key Accountabilities (in order of priority)
• Encouraging Innovation and continued SBR growth, financial health and viability
– cost-control, customer retention, maintaining high quality
– development and execution of Grant recommendations with Board agreement
– pursuit of development opportunities and expansion of recycling outcomes
– development of SBR infrastructure for long term growth
• Efficiently managing SBR Resources- anticipating new requirements, providing redundancy in personnel and infrastructure, and continuously working on minimising wastage, rework,
• Pursuit of best practise community environmental outcomes
• Adherence to OH&S and Quality management processes
• Carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
• Senior and Strategic management experience – ideally but not necessarily in a waste management industry
• Proven office management /administrative responsibilities experience
• Knowledge of office, IT systems and procedures
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• Knowledge of accounting, data and administrative management practices and procedures
• Knowledge of employment relations, human resources management practices and procedures
• Knowledge of business and management principles
• Excellent computer skills and knowledge of financial software packages, Xero knowledge a distinct advantage
